Deaf Drag
Last Friday, my boyfriend and I attended a caberet/burlesque show. Being no stranger to small caberets, I knew this one would be different. I had been invited by my friend, MJ, a sign language interpreter with over 20+ years experience. Her deaf friend, Madame Gerry, was perorming in drag that night. MJ's job for the night was to sit on the side of the stage and sign any stage dialogue to deaf attendees, along with voice/speak anything signd by perfomers. Madame Gerry performed beautifully with great ellegance. MJ was fantastic too, her signs were clever and creative as she signed Bowie's "Space Oddity" lyrics.

MALUCAAAA
I am in love with Maluca's style. She is one awesome performer and creator of jamz. Songs are leaking out from her new album and they are fantastic. If you don't enjoy the music, that's fair, but you gotta dig her unique NY street swagger.
the photos above are stills from her awesome music vid:
check out this jacket, it reminds me the El Tigeraso vid:

That look, those brows...
Could it be too soon to think of such inspiration? When I read my boyfriend's "Liz Taylor RIP" text message, my first thought was of how devastated the Kuchar brothers must be to hear of this sad news. The Kuchar brothers are an incredible cinematic duo, so incredible that they influenced the King of Sleeze- John Waters. Oh how the influencers are influenced by even more influencing influencers! George Kuchar was inspired and obsessed by the eyebrows of none other than , Mz. Liz Taylor. Each of Kuchar's leading ladies wear dark painted, "chocolate bar" eyebrows. All in the ferocious (beyond fierce) stylings of George's alter ego, the fabulous make-up artist, "Mister Dominic". Long live Liz and her many inspireees :)
